Ten Walks around Devizes

Ten Walks around Devizes

Ten Walks

A collection of circular walks starting and finishing at the focal point of Devizes town centre - the Market Place. The walks range from about 4 to 7 miles over varied and often stunning countryside. They include the famous Kennet and Avon Canal and the Devizes flight of 16 (or 29!) locks, the Millennium White Horse, the site of the Civil War 'Battle of Roundway Down' of 1643 and the 'Bloody Ditch', Drew's Pond Nature Trail through a wooded valley and much more. They are illustrated by photographs and easy to follow maps. A map of Devizes and fascinating details about the town are also included. Near the Market Place you will find an excellent range of establishments catering for the needs of hungry and thirsty walkers, as well as a wide variety of shops and a market held every Thursday.

The book costing £2 can be obtained from various outlets around the town including Devizes Books, Devizes Museum, the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust shop at The Wharf, Caen Hill Locks Café at the top of the flight of locks and the Rowdey Cow on the road to Rowde. If you would like us to post you a copy please send your name and address and a cheque for £2.00 payable to 'Mrs C J Sharples' to Mid-Wilts Ramblers (Publications), 7 The Breach, Devizes, SN10 5BJ.
